Access violation error on Windows Server 2008
Solution
Problem
When running the TSC2 Help Desk client on Windows Server 2008 an Access Violation Error occurs and the program shuts down.
Solution
Disable DEP (Data Execution Prevention) for the TSC2 Help Desk client. DEP is enabled for all programs by default in Windows Server 2008. To turn off DEP for TSC2 Help Desk follow the steps below.
1. Right click on Computer and select properties to open the "System" window.
2. Click Advanced System Settings.
3. Click the Settings button under Performance (this is on the Advanced tab).
5. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
6. Click "Turn on DEP for all program and services expect those I select".
7. Click the add button and select the "TSC2 Help Desk.exe" executable.
8. Click OK to save the settings.
Alternately you can set the option "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only".
